“Our number one responsibility is to raise high-functioning, intelligent, nuanced, loving, service-oriented adults. I think that’s what we’re really trying to do. And we think there might be an inverse correlation between safety and how we want to raise our kids to be, if we want to raise our kids in the name of protection and then suddenly expect them to flip a switch at 21 or 26 and become service-orientated, loving, nuanced, kind, worldly, and the best sense of culture and open to other ideas.”
